Open lecture with Dr Manica Balasegaram, Médecins Sans Frontières, on the challenges of antibiotic resistance
On the occasion of Uppsala Health Summit, Dr Balasegaram, a speaker at the Summit, will give an open lecture on ‘Antibiotic resistance – an issue to be solved by the market or by politics?’ on June 1 at 17:00-18:00 in the Uppsala University Main Building, hall X. The event, which is arranged by the Uppsala Association of Foreign Affairs and the Medical Section of the Students Union, is free of charge.
Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is the independent medical humanitarian organization that delivers emergency aid to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, natural disasters and exclusion from healthcare in nearly 70 countries.
In 1999, MSF launched the Access Campaign, its purpose to develop and give access to life-saving and life-prolonging diagnostic tests, medicines and vaccines for patients in MSF programmes and beyond. Dr Balasegaram, the Executive Director of the Access Campaign, will speak on the issues and challenges of antibiotic resistance in the contexts where MSF works.
